Co-established by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangxi University for Nationalities has currently more than 22,000 students coming from 35 ethnic groups nationwide. International students here enjoy easier access to HSK (National Chinese Proficiency Test), for the university has been authorized for years by the Ministry of Education to conduct different levels of HSK. Being a national key university in support of China's neighboring countries to develop Chinese language and a long-standing base for the Training Program of International Teachers Learning Chinese in China, it’s also entrusted with the National Test for the Certificate of Ability to Teach Chinese as a Foreign Language.

Majors To Enroll International Students

Guangxi University for Nationalities now offers 9 disciplines covering Philosophy, Literature, Natural Science, Historiography, Economics, Engineering, Management, Science of Law and Education, which involve 50 undergraduate programs and 40 postgraduate programs. The College of International Education in Guangxi University for Nationalities is responsible for international students’ enrollment, teaching and administration. The international students can apply for Chinese Training Programs, Undergraduate Programs and Postgraduate Programs. And the corresponding certificates will be granted from the university if qualified. Living Conditions and Facilities

Covering an area of 1,321,999 m², Guangxi University for Nationalities is located by the side of a charming lake in Nanning, the capital city in Guangxi boasting a reputation of “Land of Songs” and “Green city”. In addition to the beautifully pleasant environment, the exclusive classrooms, language labs and apartments for international students are also provided.

The apartments for international students are equipped with color TV, air-conditioner, telephone, Internet access, desk, wardrobe, bathroom and public kitchen. Besides, hot water is available round the clock. A refrigerator is also available in each single room and twin room. The costs are: a single room ------￥66 RMB / room /day; a twin room ------￥33 RMB / bed /day;

a four-bed room ------￥1640 RMB / person /semester.

Enrollment Requirement for Foreign Students

at Guangxi University for Nationalities

Admission requirement:

Anybody who is between 16 and 60 years old, healthy and willing to observe laws and rules of China and this university is welcome to apply for study. For visiting students, there is no requirement in terms of diploma level. For those applying for undergraduate studies, high school diploma is required. For those applying for postgraduate studies, bachelor degree is required. Those whose HSK level is above Level 3 can choose science majors. Those whose HSK level is above level 6 can apply to major in liberal arts. Those without HSK certificates can study Chinese first and then go on to study their chosen majors.

Application procedures:

1. Log on to http://www.gxun.edu.cn and download the Application Form for International Students of Guangxi University for Nationalities and Physical Examination Record for International Travelers. Complete the forms and mail them to the Office for International Students together with 30 U.S. dollars.

2. After getting the approval for the higher-level educational administrative authority, the College of the International Education will send the admission notice and JW202 visa application form to the applicant.

3. With the admission notice, JW202 visa application form and other related materials, go to the nearest embassy or consulate general of your country to apply for X(study) visa and register at the university at the required time.

Registration:

1. Go to the Office for International Students to register by producing your passport, admission notice, JW202 visa application form and four 45mm×35mm photos.

2. After the registration, follow the procedures elaborated in the university’s Foreign Students’ Manual.

A. Fill in the registration form.

B. Produce your passport

C. Pay tuition and accommodation fee.

D. Get class schedule, textbooks and internet cards.

E. Health exam (for students who study for over 6 months)

F. Apply for residence permit with the help of the Office for International Student.

Remarks:

If you need airport service, please inform us the exact flight number or train number and the exact time you arrive at Nanning by e-mail or fax. The distance between Nanning International Airport and this university is about 35kms and it takes about 50 minutes by taxi. The taxi fare is about 80 RMB.

New students should get registered 3 days in advance at the Office for Foreign Students to get orientated and get your life on GXUN campus started afresh.
